The instantaneous power draw of UV-C LEDs is similar to mercury lamps, but the way they operate is dramatically more efficient. Mercury systems must remain on continuously, consuming energy even when no water is used. Our LED UV-C filters, especially when paired with a flow switch, deliver a small maintenance dose in standby and ramp to full disinfection power only when water flows. Depending on usage, this can result in up to 100× less energy consumption (kWh per year) compared to mercury lamps.

Traditional mercury lamps need bulb replacements every 9–12 months (around 9,000 hours). By contrast, our UV-C LED modules are designed to last:
- Standard models: up to 5 years
- Professional stainless-steel models: up to 8 years
